Keto Diet versus The HCG Diet
Harvard Medical Explains The Keto Diet like this:
Because the keto diet has such a high fat requirement, followers must eat fat at each meal. In a daily 2,000-calorie diet, that might look like 165 grams of fat, 40 grams of carbs, and 75 grams of protein. However, the exact ratio depends on your particular needs.
Some healthy unsaturated fats are allowed on the keto diet — like nuts (almonds, walnuts), seeds, avocados, tofu, and olive oil. But saturated fats from oils (palm, coconut), lard, butter, and cocoa butter are encouraged in high amounts.
Protein is part of the keto diet, but it doesn’t typically discriminate between lean protein foods and protein sources high in saturated fat such as beef, pork, and bacon.
What about fruits and vegetables? All fruits are rich in carbs, but you can have certain fruits (usually berries) in small portions. Vegetables (also rich in carbs) are restricted to leafy greens (such as kale, Swiss chard, spinach), cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, bell peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cucumber, celery, and summer squashes. A cup of chopped broccoli has about six carbs.
The HCG Difference is you Avoid Fat
This doesn’t sound as fun but once you have HCG in your system you will realize the bad fat in your body is melting, appetite is in check and you are able to get into serious ketosis aka burning fat. Drinking plenty of water to be sure your liver and kidneys are flushing out the fat being burned. Side not about avoiding fats on HCG there are a few GOOD fats the depending on the person can actually help you release fat faster. …Macadamia nut fast, MCT Oil .

HCG Phase 3 Recipe – Roasted Vegetables
Phase 3 Roasted Vegetables Dish
Super YUMMY- Super SIMPLE!
So many other veggies can be added but Pictured is Zucchini and Mushrooms
Phase 3 Food Question –
Hey Colleen,
I can’t stress enough how much I love it, that you actually care about people who write to you…
I wanted to ask you, since I am soon going to enter phase3. And I don’t have meat or eggs or fish being a vegetarian. Is it ok if I start having whole wheat pasta, or brown rice, lentils, or something and can I use olive oil for cooking, or the Pam sprays or something? Because now I’m going insane without any decent hot cooked food! I can’t live on spinach soup and yoghurt as on HCG VLCD phase2…..please help….
Thanks
My Answer –
What I think you will love instead of the whole wheat pasta, or brown rice, lentils is roasted vegetables.
This is so simple to make!
I put a variety of broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, and on occasion asparagus (though for you that veggie you may want to take a break from) and I will add red, yellow and orange bell peppers (not spicy) sometimes. Then I drizzle olive oil over the top (I still spray the platter I use with the Pam Spray to keep the vegetables from sticking and make clean up easier) add minced garlic and sprinkle with either kosher salt or sea salt. Put it in the broiler for approx 8 min. then stir around and broil for another 5 min. The tops will look grilled – YUM!
When my son sees what I’m eating he always says” you are going to eat all that?” It’s SO good!
If you are not vegetarian like the sweet person who asked this question you can also add shrimp, strips of cooked chicken breast (no skin) or lean steak, even feta cheese. I prefer feta because it is better for you than basic cheese. You don’t need to add much at all and when added to this dish it gives a nice tanginess to the overall flavor of the dish.
Another side note – I have tried this using MCT oil. It wasn’t that it was bad but MCT doesn’t like extreme temperatures so the vegetables end up being drier and the MCT oil kind of “smokes away” during the broiling process.
**If you are a Phase 2 person in the more liberal protocol that allows more vegetable selections than Dr Simeons’ original protocol (I have heard of plans that people that are going to HCG clinics are doing that also include Broccoli etc.)You can simply swap out the olive oil for the MCT (though the mct doesn’t work as well)or omit the oil and drizzle with water for added moisture.
Why is the word “DIET” Bad?
Believe it or not this post was inspired by a thought I had while watching a segment on TMV Live when I was walking on my treadmill. Mindless TV isn’t so mindless after all – LOL
Lolo Jones the Olympic hurdler, who is now hoping to make the Winter Olympic team as a bobsledder said she’s gained some 30 pounds during the past few months. She’s done so by eating 9,000 calories a day on a diet which includes two 1,365-calorie protein shakes and fattening foods.
Why do I bring this up as an example?
Usually when we tell people we are on or going on a DIET the 1st thing that comes to mind is deprivation.
I want us ALL to get out of that mindset.
Whether you are overweight, underweight or at target weight but go to the doctor about maybe something going on with you medically you could be asked, “What is your diet?”
The question isn’t expecting the answer to be HCG protocol, Paleo diet, Keto diet, low carb diet, etc.
That is being asked is, what are you consuming? You know, what are you sticking into your mouth and swallowing on a daily basis.
I believe that once we get out from under thinking our diet is a sacrifice we have to endure and look at our choices as long term healthy changes all will go a lot more smoothly.
We all agree being on P2 has limitations that you will have to live through, but that is the key point. You live through it and as you reap the benefits of the protocol you will transition to other choices like stepping stones. What steps am I talking about? Doing your rounds whether it be P3, cycling and ultimately life maintenance.
As I work and yes I did mean to use the word work to maintain a healthy weight and size I find that my “diet” includes many of the different food choices and ingredients so many TV shows and internet articles recommend as good choices for weight loss, good metabolism, and overall health.
Why am I ok using the word “work”? If you want to be healthy you either naturally make healthy choices or you are mindful of the choices. As you are mindful of your choices something begins to happen that you don’t even realize was happening, it does become natural.
Quite frankly food that you use to want to consume and or think you couldn’t live without doesn’t look appealing. Or your treat foods get a makeover. How your body feels after you eat certain food and how the food tastes changes.
I know if I want to eat a cookie or ice cream the processed stuff is not on my agenda.
I want REAL food and the portion amount is far less to satisfy me than in my overweight past life.
Those of you that haven’t crossed this bridge yet and can’t believe you wouldn’t want certain food you love now don’t fear.
Are there times when processed food is still in my world? Yes sometimes but I must admit when I have gone down that road the anticipation was far greater than the award.
The trigger to eat it? Probably a ghost emotion of how I used to be comforted by that food. So once I start to eat it I am disappointed and usually throw it away or hand it off to my hubby. Just like anyone would when they take a bite and realize they don’t like it.
To sum all this up my goal by doing this post is to give you HOPE. Fast forward to your healthy weight self and be confident that you will be happy with your choice. And to lessen the blow of the word “DIET.” It is Ok that you are on a diet, everyone who consumes food to live is.
Remember Lolo Jones is consuming over 9000 calories a day and everyone who interviews her asks, “What is your diet?”
HCG Life Maintenance Q&A
HCG Life Maintenance Q&A
OVERVIEW
A very sweet HCG You Tuber named Lisa…You Tube channel name – MightyMouse Lisa asked some “VET” HCG You Tube peeps to vlog about how they have maintained since their HCG weight loss journey.
I was honored to be asked to be one of the “VETS”.
Here Are the questions she wanted us to cover –
1. How long have you been off HCG?
2. Have you maintained?
3. Do or did you have emotional eating issues?
4. What measures do you take to keep you from ever having to do to this protocol or any diet ever again?
5. What got you to the point where you knew you had a handle on your stabilization?
6. Any advice on how to stabilize and maintain for life?
Once I began the vlog I realized that one vlog could only be a simple “overview” and it would take several vlogs to be more detailed with each question. For now here is the overview and the individual vlogs on each question will be yet to come.
Setting Goals and Achieving Them
Make Your Goal a REALITY!
I had a wonderful visitor to my website ask me a question and after I answered her reply back began with Happy Day!
This struck a chord with me because during the last part of June I was accessing 2013 and started to get down on myself about my progress for this year. Now in my case it wasn’t a weight loss goal though staying healthy and fit is always part of the mix now-a-days.
It was more about my promise to do more with this website, be more consistent on you tube and stay more connected with the social media that aids in me helping people with their weight loss, health and HCG questions during their journey and beyond.
Plus on a personal level I also made a goal to stay better connected with family and friends.
Well let’s just guess what happened instead. In January I fell on my treadmill then ended up with a very bad infection that almost got me hospitalized.
I’m not saying this as excuses just merely being honest about the fact that I basically allowed myself to be “stuck” in Jan & Feb.
Though time marched on really the only thing I have been consistent with is being a “over the top” good employee for the company I work for ( I put a lot of my own time into helping the clients).
And I make sure I always exercise. I thought I was also being pretty good at making sure I answered any questions that came my way from you guys.
Then I realized a missed a few and was mortified! Especially the you tube comments. my email stopped sending the alerts to me and I wasn’t logging in so I didn’t even know.
Now here is why I am telling you all this.
Most of us use January 1st as our time to make goals and make positive changes.
What if that new start just didn’t happen the way we planned. July could easily become the month of self loathing, guilt and despair.I say “No,No,No!!!
Instead of Happy New Year! – July is Happy Day!!
From this point on we have the FREEDOM (4th of July…get it 😉 ) To start a NEW positive direction!
Let’s do this – Who is with me?
You know who else motivated me? There is a lovely lady named Connie. Last year she went thought just about every BAD a person could think of. Between health and relationship met downs I could tell when communicating with her she was in the lowest of low places. I honestly didn’t think I had much else I could do to help.
Well wouldn’t you know the last time she reached out to ask how I was I assumed she would have bad news to share and my heart dropped. INSTEAD…She is doing GREAT! She is on HCG losing fat getting health and is even doing vlogs on You tube – YAY!
When I told her I felt “stuck” in Jan/ Feb she replied that she could understand if I was “burned out”.
I read that and thought, Oh my GOSH! She is doing great and it looks to her like I’m going through a rough patch.
No burn out for me!!! I plan on Rocking the rest of 2013 – Who is with me!?
At this point I could list the usual ways people can make a plan and set out to accomplish it.
What I want to do instead is ask those that read this post to comment what they think has worked for them.
Or if someone needs help say what you think the stumbling block is and let all try and help each other get where we want to be.
Weight loss goals, exercise goals, health goals, people goals – Positive Improvement in any area that you choose will make each day, week and month so much more fulfilling and rewarding!!
Thanks for letting me share this pep talk…My goal in doing so is to help you and ME both. 🙂
Maintaining After HCG Diet
Maintaining After HCG Diet
Still At Goal!
You can Do It Too!
I started my HCG Journey on January 17th, 2010. By May 2010 I was at goal.
It is now January 2013 and I have maintained my weight loss and enjoyed my new size since I hit my goal in 2010.
Of course like anyone at times there have been a bit of gain then loss but I never “outgrew” the clothes I was able to buy after I hit my goal in 2010. On any other diet plans, programs, experiences whatever you prefer to call it I would have had to put the “skinny clothes” to the back of the closet because I couldn’t get them on or zip them up anymore.
I have had “tight” days but always able to wear my goal size.
This year I want to really dig in and be able to help more people lose and then maintain like I have. I encourage you to watch me on you tube. Ask me questions after you watch my vlogs. Please friend me, subscribe, like, and help me help you by asking questions I can answer on my vlogs. My new goal is to do a lot more vlogs this year so I can help a lot more people!
Below is my getting reacquainted vlog from you tube.
Weight Loss Research Beyond HCG
Weight Loss Research
Like I mentioned in a recent post the beginning 2012 was a bit turbulent and I broke one very important rule. I didn’t visit my scale during that time and since my clothes were still fitting didn’t think there would be an issue. But guess what? Once I did decide to jump on the scale the numbers had increased and that is no bueno!
Good news is I am already rounding the corner to the numbers my body and mind are happier at 🙂
← What size jean does this little guy wear?
If you are cool with it, I would like to touch on a couple of things that I have been thinking about –
Don’t Let Crabs in Life Drag you Down!
1 – I had kind of a “hater” if you want to call it that comment on one of my older youtube vlogs when I showed that I had made it into size 25 jeans. I’m pretty sure I complained then that the video seemed to make me look bigger than I was. Another HCGer told me I had the computer at a bad angle etc. But also in Vegas when I met everyone in person they all were on my case in a nice way telling me “You are done, you don’t have anymore to lose” They said the videos were not doing what I really looked like justice.
Breaking Ground Research!
2 – Now let’s go forward and like I mentioned at the beginning of this post I had a tough start to the year and I gained a little back. Probably about the same as a person that never grew up with a weight problem would given the circumstances. Just as I was going to buckle down to get that tad bit off so my smallest jeans could fit more comfortable (we all like wiggle room).
I was asked to test something. I highly respect the person who asked and know that his motivation is to help so many conquer their weight issue. And I know the respect he has for the original protocol and Dr Simeons research. Between knowing he and I are on the same page when it comes to helping people. And as everyone knows I admit to being a Lab Rat I agreed to gaining a bit more (basically same as loading). This task was the toughest for me who also admits to being “Load-phobic”. But he helped me understand on the scientific level why it is so important.
Mum’s the Word!
For the sake of science and respecting his research I can not say anymore till he gives me the green light. But if it keeps going as well as it has he is going to be able to help a ton of people and that really is exciting to be a part of!
Here ius a hint of what is part of the plan.
Stay tuned from the shrinking woman… Oh – and if that “Crab” who said “you don’t look like you wear size 25 jeans” ever comes across this post maybe I need to find someone to help me with a video so we can turn back the waistband of the jeans while they are ON MY BODY to display the number…OY – some people! – LOL….Gotta Love them anyway 🙂
How Long Did it Take to Lose Your Weight on HCG?
How Many Rounds Did You Do to Lose Your Weight?
Rounds..You Go On then Get off and Go Back On…Get it?
Question:
How many rounds did you do to lose your weight? Was it fifty you lost?
You look beautiful and are such an inspiration – Thank you
Answer:
It is tough to count the rounds since I decided to do interruptions/cycles. Please see my post about that since I don’t type fast and there was a lot to tell about it all.
For now, the best way I can explain my HCG duration is –
I started January 17, 2010 at 180 lbs. I had shot past my original weight goal I had set (135) near the end of May of the 2010, I was 128.
I went down even further by that July (in inches). Later on I lost more pounds too. Funny how events help jog the memory of what transpired. In May 2010 my husband and I decided to go to Las Vegas. There are outlet stores there so I decided to treat myself to some designer jeans.
Then in July we planned another Vegas trip for two reasons.
That year there were a bunch of HCGers that I was following on YouTube and they all decided it would be fun to meet. Since that was happening and my birthday is in July we went again. First I would like to point out; it was awesome to get to meet everyone in person. Any of you that watch Mamaclok on you tube I just have to say she along with some others who have moved on from vlogging immediately made me feel completely welcome.
Well since it was my birthday my husband suggested that we go to the outlets again so I could pick something out.
Any of you that have gotten to goal know getting to shop for your new size is a very exciting time!
So I went back to the same store for more jeans and low and behold I had gone down two full sizes since May – Now that was a “Wow” moment , I even went down one more size after that.
Through the rest of 2010 and 2011 I hovered for the greater amount of the time at approx 125. I say “hovered” because if I wasn’t 125 I was either 123 or 127.
So to sum it up on my HCG Journey that will equate to approx.55lbs.
Before I knew about HCG I was over 200 lbs and had done a long fast so I lost some weight prior but it was creeping back up!
That was when my brother recommended that I should check out the HCG diet on You Tube.
He was concerned that I would keep trying to fast. So he said “On this other “thing” at least you will be eating healthy food, not a lot but it’s better than nothing at all.” Funny thing is he doesn’t even remember telling me that but I am so thankful he did!
Because of the prior fasting when someone is talking to me I sometimes mess up and when they ask me how much I have lost.
I forget to separate my HCG loss from what I also lost from fasting. When I do these posts I try to be sure and look back on journals to make sure I am remembering my numbers correctly.
But I must say it is pretty darn cool that I have been living in the world of “Slender” since 2010. I have never had a track record like this with anything else!
Two Great Fat Releasing Supplements!
HCG – Getting Started Questions
Top HCG Questions
A youtube viewer wrote and asked some great questions.
I thought it would be good to post the assortment of questions and my answers because this is just about the top most asked questions when someone is getting ready to start HCG.
She wrote;
“I’m getting ready to begin my HCG journey. I’m so excited, yet at the same time I’m scared! Between your Loseit4ever channel, Mamaclok, and HCG forums, I’m getting a lot of information, and becoming more assured that I’m doing the right thing for my health.”
Great Q&A!
Q-Can I continue to take my blood pressure and water pill meds while on HCG?
MY ANSWER – If these are prescriptions your doctor has you on you should not go off of them unless the doctor tells you it is ok.
When on protocol you should be drinking a lot of water which will also help you with your releases (2 quart minimum). Once your body “gets” that you will be drinking more water your body won’t try to be a “camel” and retain the water.
Q- I also take Melatonin to help with sleep.
MY Answer — I think Melatonin is good and fine while on HCG.
Q – And would you recommend a supplement for energy?
MY Answer — Many HCGers take B12. I take a lot of different supplements (Not diet pills) that also give my energy. Yerba Mate Tea is also good. But what I want to be sure is understood is that when on proper HCG the abnormal fat stores are being burned. Too many people only look at the 500 cal consumption and worry they will be weak but you won’t be. I wasn’t weak, lightheaded, none of that during my rounds.
Q-What do you recommend is best to eat during load days? I see Mamaclok from youtube ate donuts, but are there recommended “gorge” foods?
My Answer — Since that vlog I think Karen would agree better “gorge” choices are good fats. One successful HCGer loves to eat a big bowl of guacamole. I make sure I eat foods that I think I will “miss” once I’m on protocol. Mexican food and even though it has sugar, ice cream which is also high fat so the fat will slow the absorption rate of the sugar into your system. Other HCGers like to eat fatty meats as well. I just learned that finishing out your last load day 3 hours prior to bedtime with ½ a brick of cream cheese and 15-30 macadamia nuts helps your system to kick into ketosis better.
Q-Is loose skin expected with hcg weight loss?
My Answer — The great thing about HCG is we release the fat quickly. But then your skin needs to play “catch up”. If I had it to do over again I would have taken the MSM in mega doses as soon as I started HCG.
Q- I see where you were talking about the Apple Cider Vinegar/ MSM cocktail shot – at what phase is this advisable?
My Answer — I came up with the Apple Cider Vinegar/ MSM shot for P2ers.Even though I have done the Apple Cider Vinegar/ MCT during P2. Since MCT is an oil I prefer a new P2er doesn’t do that one until there a reason for going that direction. Or once they know their body is settled into the HCG dose and adding the MCT oil won’t throw off your releases.
don’t know why but it seems to me it is good to do your very first round as virgin on protocol as you possibly can. After the first round if you feel you want to try more “tricks” to see which ones work for you go ahead but journal so you know what works and what you should avoid.
Q-I currently take Perfect Food Super Green Powder
mixed in water, because I don’t eat enough veggies. I’ve never checked the caloric content, though I guess it should be low, and fat free. Would you recommend continuing with it?
My Answer — You would have to let me know the ingredients. If carbs or sugars aren’t added it should be ok. But again even if it doesn’t have those ingredients I wouldn’t add it at first . Just do protocol and then add and journal the result. If you see that by adding it you either stay steady with your releases or even better releases that you know you are good to go!
Q-Where did you purchase your hcg? (I plan on doing mine sublingually)
My Answer — I did injections but sub lingual also uses RX HCG so you can still purchase from where I did if you want.
I prefer ReliablerxPharmacy(reasonable prices) is my favorite.
All Day Chemist (tried them because other hcgers mentioned them a lot)
and they are fine too. The way to pay with reliable was easier for me though.
